G20 Archives

The Toronto G20 took place in 2010, at the tail end of the anti-globalization movement of the 1990s and 2000s. The crackdown on the summit protests culminated in what remains the largest mass arrest in Canadian history. In the lead-up to the G20, and through the fallout afterwards, MDC was one of the main organizations providing legal support. As part of that, we created legal education materials for protesters.

The G20 was preceded by several other global summits and convergences across Canada, the United States, and the world that drew large protests. Similar legal collectives elsewhere emerged or focussed their work on organizing in support of those protests.

More than a decade later, many of these materials are out of date, and many of those organizations are no longer active. We’re preserving the information that used to live on our “Resources” and “Links” pages here for historical purposes.
